about counseling & sarah

In this hectic, fast paced world, many have forgotten to feed their soul, maintain a healthy lifestyle, eat foods that heal our body and mind or tap into their potential. Based on this need, we created our wellness services. We provide mental health counseling, personal coaching, inspirational speaking, and health and nutritional consultations. We believe that people are works in progress and with effort can improve themselves in every way. Our wellness staff includes a licensed professional counselor and a nutritional coach and are in the process of building an integrative group with naturopathic and medical doctors.

What is Counseling?

It is a process where you can learn about yourself, as well as gain insight about life and the world around you. You can improve your personality, thoughts, and behaviors by noticing problem patterns, working on flaws and discovering talents and interests.  While many clients reach out to us to focus on clinical issues like depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, others wish to gain perspective on every day stressors.  Clients often seek assistance in reducing daily stress caused by school, social relationships, career, romantic relationships, dealing with family, poor self-esteem, body image, losing weight or support during a transition in life.

F.A.Q.

1. How long is a session?

Traditionally sessions are 55 minutes long.

2. Time is up but I really have a lot more I want to talk about. Can we add more time, please?

I love counseling and really enjoy working with clients. If we are having a particularly deep and intense therapy session and time is about to finish, I can pause it for that day and book a 2nd session that week if it is warranted. If I have the next hour available, we could continue for a 2nd hour but you would need to pay out of pocket at the regular rate of $125 per hour. For insurance purposes we unfortunately cannot bill an individual client for 2 sessions in a day.

3. How often do I go for sessions?

Generally clients meet weekly to work through issues and at times some may come for some quick help focused on a particular short term need.

4. I don't live close by, how can I receive counseling from you?

We offer teletherapy via phone and webcam (using hippa privacy approved site) to those who are unable to physically come to the office. You will need to download two free mobile apps: Zipdoc (HIPPA compliant text app) and Doxy.me (HIPPA compliant webconference app)

5. I don't have a major clinical issue. Is it weird for me to go to a therapist?

People go to a doctor without thinking twice if they have an ear infection, why hesitate if you are having anxiousness over a new job or experience depression triggered by a breakup? Why deal with it alone or listen to your friend who keeps saying "why are you making such a big deal, get over it."  Did you know 18% of the U.S. population has anxiety? Did you know that 1 in 9 people have experienced some form of depression? 56% of Americans are not seeking treatment.   Want more information on the latest stats on mental health of Americans? Read more hereThe majority of my clients are professional, educated adults, bright teens and children who are going through everyday challenges such as  stress, disappointment, life transitions, grief, heartbreak, or  have symptoms of depression, anxiety, etc.
